Abstract
Solar energy is one of the alternative energy which is renewable. One of the utilization of solar energy, namely solar energy water heaters, where hot water is generated and used for daily needs. Solar energy is the light and radiation that comes from the sun to the earth with the potential for very large heat energy. Solar energy is environmentally friendly energy, this is because in its utilization it does not require the burning of fossil fuels that can cause pollution. Converting solar energy as a water heater or more commonly known as solar water heater. Solar water heater type Parabolic Trough Collector is one type of solar water heater. The working principle of this solar water heater that is by utilizing energy solar radiation reflected into the receiver pipe with half of a parabola-shaped collector, then convert the solar energy received energy into heat. Next, the heat energy transferred to the water that is in the copper pipe. After the water gets hot, water will be accommodated inside the tank and then circulate the thermosiphon principle. Therefore, researchers are interested in making solar energy water heaters. The testing conducted with the variation of pipe diameter receiver. . A solar water heater with a parabolic collector type has the working principle of reflectance and concentration the light at a point called the focal point. This device moves to follow the incoming direction of sunlight. The sunlight must be perpendicular to the collector's surface, so the reflection of the light will falls at the focal point, just like the principle of light reflection in a concave mirror. But there is a drawback of solar water heater devices, which is very dependent on the weather and the intensity of solar radiation.The research flow begins by conducting literature studies from various journals, books and other sources that support this research. After conducting literature studies from various sources, a determination of the size of the solar collector, the size of the heat receiver, the size of the water hose, the size of the water tank, and the height of the water tank against the solar collector. After getting the appropriate size, continue to the process of making water heater, then continued to testing the device and collect datas in the field. At the time of device testing, it is important to notice the weather and the intensity of solar radiation. If the weather is cloudy or rainy, then testing and data collecting can not be worked. After the testing and data collecting has done, the data obtained from the testing process is then examined and discussed by the equations described in the basic theory to get efficiency value. Then the results will be processed into tables and charts. Testing and collecting data are working at the same time and place. This solar water heater has 4,7 liters of total volume, where the volume of water in the tank is 4,4 liters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the diameter of the pipe receiver against the performance of the water heater type parabolic trough collector. Based on the analysis that has been done on the variation of diameter of pipe 1,59cm, 1,27 cm and 0,95cm it can be concluded that the average efficiency of the highest and average value of the received heat water contained in a receiver pipe diameter of 0,95 cm is 11,159 % with a heat value received was 61,079 Watt, at receiver pipe diameter of 1,27 cm is 9,542 % heat value received 52,513 Watt and on the diameter of the pipe receiver 1,59cm namely a heat value of 7,964 % received 43,947 Watts. While the highest temperature on this testing is 580C on small diameter pipe, 540C medium and large diameter at 50,50C. It means that the receiver pipe diameter variations can affect the value of the efficiency of the water heater type parabolic trough collector.
