Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) To analyze the difference of income and subsistence exchange index of rubber farmers because of the impact of rubber prices fluctuation, (2) To analyze on the socio-economic response of rubber farmers because of the impact of rubber prices fluctuation. This research was conducted at Lebung Itam Village of Tulung Selapan, Ogan Komering Ilir South Sumatera. The location was chosen purposively. The method used in this research is a survey method. The data collected by primary and secondary source. The sampling method used in this research was simple random sampling taken 30 farmers from 1.200 farmers. The result of this research showed that rubber prices fluctuation is made change of rubber farmers income in Lebung Itam village, which is the farmers income when increase prices was Rp 979.752/ha/month and when decrease prices was Rp 670.633/ha/month. While the impact of rubber prices fluctuation on the subsistence exchange index of rubber farmers in Lebung Itam village did not give a significant effect. The allocation of farmers household food consumption and changes in source of income did not change or not affect the socio-economic response of rubber farmers in Lebung Itam village. While there was a change of active capital and some indicators in social capital because of rubber prices fluctuation, that is the level of participation, trust and solidarity, and cohesion and social inclusivity.
