Abstract
Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a type of vegetable that is a priority for farmers and has been grown intensively. Shallot productivity can be increased through improving proper cultivation techniques, one of which is to pay attention to the growing medium which is a major factor in plant growth. The study aims to determine the composition of planting media that is suitable for the growth and yield of Bima Brebes variety shallots. The design used in this study was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 7 levels of treatment, each treatment was repeated 3 times and each repeat consisted of 3 plants, so that the total number of plants was 63 plants. The composition of the planting media used in this study is P0 = control (soil 100%), P1 = 1:1 (soil : chicken manure), P2 = 2:1 (soil : chicken manure), P3 = 1:1 (soil : husk charcoal), P4 = 2:1 (soil : husk charcoal), P5 = 1:1:1 (soil : chicken manure : husk charcoal), P6 = 2:1:1 (soil : chicken manure : husk charcoal). The parameters observed in this study consisted of leaf length, number of leaves, number of tillers, soil plant analysis development, chlorophyll content, leaf area, root length, number of bulbs, bulb diameter, bulb length, bulb volume, fresh weight of bulbs, dry weight of wind bulbs, fresh weight and oven dry weight. The results showed that the use of the composition of the planting media with the ratio of soil: chicken manure: husk charcoal (1: 1: 1) had an influence on the growth and yield of shallots of the Bima Brebes variety.
