Abstract
This study aims to obtain the best and most efficient KNO3 treatment on curly red chili (Capsicum annum L.) seeds that have expired in seeds germenation. This research was carried out at the Laboratory of Seed Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Ogan Ilir Regency in July 2023. This research was carried out using a complete randomized design with 5 treatment and 3 replicates, with 2 trays per research unit, each tray consisted of 25 chili seeds. The treatment were A : 0,2% KNO3 concentration for 30 minutes, B : 0,4% KNO3 concentration for 30 minutes, C : 0,6% KNO3 concentration for 30 minutes, D : 0,8% KNO3 concentration for 30 minutes, E : 1% KNO3 concentration for 30 minutes. The parameter observed included germination percentage, uniform growth percentage, germination rate, plumule length, radicule length, sprout fresh weight, sprout dry weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and vigor index. The results showed that priming red chili seeds curly wire varieties that had expired using KNO3 had no real effect on all parameters. Seed priming treatment using KNO3 solution with a 0.4% concentration produces better results, could as seen from the parameters of growth cohesion, plumula length, radicule length, shoot dry weight, and vigor index
