Abstract

Background: Emesis gravidarum is nausea and vomiting experienced by pregnant women. One of the risk factors for emesis gravidarum is the sex of the child. This study aims to determine the relationship of child sex and emesis gravidarum. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. The data used were primary data in the form of filling out questionnaires through Google Forms and secondary data in the form of medical record data. Results: In this study, it was found that pregnant women who had the sex of girls mostly experienced emesis gravidarum in the moderate category. From the results of the fisher’s exact test, it was found that there was a significant relationship between the sex of the child and emesis gravidarum in pregnant women. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship of child sex and emesis gravidarum. Pregnant women who have a female child have a 1,532 greater risk of experiencing emesis gravidarum than pregnant women with a male child.
