Abstract

The conversion of peat ecosystems into agro-ecosystems has a not only positive impact, but also a negative impact. This research is important to analyze farmers' adaptation strategies to the negative impacts of such function transfer. The location of the research was carried out in Belanti Village, Sirah District, PadangIsland, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This village was chosen considering that the farmland of rice farmers in the village was around 80% flooded due to the opening of oil palm plantation concessions (there are at least 5 companies around the village). The research method used is the survey method. The technical sampling was carried out deliberately on 42 farmers whose agricultural land and settlements were choked by floods in the last 11 years, with the help of questionnaires. This purposive sampling method is done by data processing analysis using SWOT analysis. Tabulations of Strengths (S), Weaknesses (W), Opportunities (O), and Challenges (T) are created first, then analys is is carried out. The strategies that need to be developed by local farmers are market penetration and product diversification; In addition, the government needs to increase the construction of sluice gates to regulate irrigation
