Abstract

Background. Multi Drug Resistant-TB (MDR-TB) is a condition where there is resistance to isoniazid (H) and rifampicin (R) simultaneously, with or without subsequent resistance to other first-line OAT. In 2021, WHO recorded around 450,000 MDR-TB cases in the world with a mortality rate of 191,000 cases. In Indonesia, there are about 28,000 cases of MDR-TB. This needs to receive great attention in the TB control program because MDR-TB cases are difficult to treat. This study aims to determine the description of adult multi drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Methods. This research is a descriptive observational cross-sectional study adopted in this study. The data of this study were collected through secondary data in the form of patient medical records in the Medical Record Installation of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. A total of 67 samples were found and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results. From this study, adult MDR-TB patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hospital for the period 2020 - 2023 had the highest distribution in patients with the age group 18-59 years (89.6%), male gender (64.2%), negative culture results (77.6%), LPA results with MTB detected (88.1%) with FQ sensitive (86,4%), resistant (11,9%), indeterminate (1,7%) and SLID sensitive (100%).The sensitivity patterns to OAT with the kanamisin, capreomisin, ofloxacin, linezolid, clofazimine, capreomisin (100%) and the highest resistance to pyrazinamide (40,5%). Conclusion. Most of the adult MDR-TB cases at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hospital for the 2020-2023 period were aged 18-59 years, male, negative culture results, MTB LPA results detected, and sensitivity patterns with the highest sensitivity to kanamisin, capreomisin, ofloxacin, linezolid, clofazimine, bedaquline and the highest resistance to pyrazinamide.
