Abstract

Background: Preterm labor is labor that begins before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence and risk factors for preterm labor at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang City in the period 2020-2022. Method: This study is an observational study with a case control study design and used the total sampling method. Data came from the medical records of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in the period January 2020-December 2022. Data analysis were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program and Microsoft Office Excel. Results: Based on the results of the analysis using the Chi Square test, the variables of maternal age (p=0.000), pregnancy distance (p=0.019), parity (p=0.000), previous history of preterm labor (p=0.000), education level (p=0.000), maternal disease (p=0.001), PPROM (p=0.000), and antepartum hemorrhage (p=0.000) have a significant association with preterm labor (p-value <0.050). History of previous preterm labor is the highest risk factor for preterm labor (OR=6.149). Conclusion: There is a significant association between maternal risk factors and preterm labor Keywords: Prevalence of preterm labor, risk factors of preterm labor, Covid-19 pandemic
