Abstract
The increasing trend of poor quality behavior characterized by low physical activity has fueled the spread of the obesity epidemic. Obesity is a chronic and multifactorial disease and is also called a chronic inflammatory disease which is characterized by an increase in total body fat. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and the incidence of obesity in Asian adults. This study used a systematic review method with descriptive analysis. Literature searches in this study used online database searches such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, Pubmed, Proquest, Springer Link, Emerald Insight and DOAJ which had been adjusted for keywords, research titles, and limited abstracts from 2012 to 2022, publications in English and Indonesian, research conducted in Asia and in free full text articles. There were 11 research articles that were systematically reviewed and met the inclusion criteria of the 1.580 identified articles. There are limitations in this study, there are restrictions on searches in the database and the exclusion process for articles based on the inclusion criteria, there are many articles that do not fit. A total of 7 articles showed that the calculation results were 64% that there was a relationship between physical activity and obesity in adults in Asia. Older adults in the 40-60 year age group are at risk of obesity. And participation in physical activity is consistently higher among men than among women. Several sociodemographic factors such as ethnicity, cardiometabolic comorbidities and environmental factors including behavioral and cultural influences may increase susceptibility to obesity. Moderate to vigorous physical activity is less than 150 minutes per week (or 30 minutes/day for five days), which is the minimum amount recommended for adults, which can be done in free time during study or work hours and holidays.
