Abstract

The problem that often occurs in students is that it is difficult to adjust to a new environment, especially for PMM students. If students have good self-compassion, then self-adjustment is expected to go well. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and self-adjustment of Merdeka batch 3 student exchange program participants at Sriwijaya University. This research is a correlational quantitative study with a research sample of 63 samples from 169 populations determined by simple random sampling technique. The data collection method in this study used self compassion and self-adjustment scales distributed online. The results of data analysis show that the level of self-compassion of students is in the moderate category with a percentage of 44% (28 students), for the level of self-adjustment of students is in the moderate category with a percentage of 38% (24 students). For the results of both variable correlations with r (count) of 0.679 and r (table) with a significance level of 5% which is 0.349, the results obtained are 0.679> 0.349 which means that there is a moderate relationship between self compassion and self-adjustment. This shows that the lower the self-compassion, the lower the self-adjustment of Merdeka student exchange program participants, and vice versa, the higher the self-compassion, the higher the self-adjustment.
