Abstract

Pengendalian penyakit tanaman dengan menggunakan agens antagonis, khususnya kelompok bakteri yang mengkoloni perakaran tanaman (rizobakteria) merupakan salah satu alternatif pengendalian yang potensial. Kelompok bakteri yang banyak diteliti adalah Pseodomonas kelompok j.loresens dan Bacillus. Tujuan penelitian ini Penelitian untuk mengetahui kemampuan bakteri Bacillus sp yang bersifat antagonis dalam mengendalikan penyakit jamur akar putih pada tanaman karet. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium bakteriologi dan rumah kasa Jurusan Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya. Pelaksanaan penelitian telah dilakukan mulai bulan Agustus sampai Desember 2010. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 kontrol, masing- masing perlakuan terdiri dari isolat Bsspl, Bssp2, Bssp3, Bssp4, Bssp5 dan K hasil identifikasi karakteristik morfologi dan fisiologi yang menunjukkan bahwa isolat Bssp merupakan isolat genus dari Bacillus sp. Dari hasil penelitian, Keparahan penyakit jamur akar putih setelah diinokulasi JAP pada tanaman karet persentase tertinggi adalan 44,44 sedangkan persentase terendah adalah 22,22%. Dari hasil akhir pengamatan Isolat Bacillus menunjukkan penghambatan keparahan penyakit jamur akar putih yang paling baik adalah isolat perlakuan Bssp2.
