Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation crop that plays an important role in increasing Indonesia's foreign exchange. Cayenne pepper is an important vegetable crop in Indonesia. Polyculture planting of cayenne pepper can increase farmers' income. This study aims to determine the diversity of arthropod species in cayenne pepper plants in polyculture with oil palm. The research was conducted in the oil palm research garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The research used experimental method of complete randomized design (RAL). The results showed that the values of diversity index, dominance index and evenness of arthropod species were low in the morning. In contrast, the value of the diversity index of arthropod species in the afternoon was moderate, the dominance index and evenness index of arthropod species were low. 33 arthropod species were found. The 33 arthropod species belonged to 28 families in 11 orders. The species found were 19 entomophagous species and 14 phytophagous species. The 19 entomophagous species were Oxypes salticus, Oxypes birmanicus, Pelegrina sp., Camaricus maugei, Delena cancerides, Thiania bhamoensis, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, Machimus cingulatus, Cricotopus sp.., Condylostylus sp., Anoplolepis gracilipes, Pachycondyla impressa, Pimpla turionellae, Phanerotoma sp., Brachymeria sp., Blepharopsis mendica, Odontomantis planiceps, Onychargia atrocyana. The 14 phytophagous species are Longitarsus jacobaeae, Apogonia sp., Bactrocera sp., Mimegralla spp., Leptocorisa acuta, Aphis gossypii, Bothrogonia addita, Edwardsiana sp., Proutista moesta, Cylosia papilionaris, Xenocatantops humilis, Valanga nigricornis, Nisitrus vittatus, Atractomorpha sp., Lissachatina fulica. The highest growth of plant height, number of fruits, and fruit weight of cayenne pepper occurred in chili plants treated with NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer.
