Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women with a percentage of 30% of cancer cases every year. Mastectomy is a treatment that can be performed on breast cancer patients. Mastectomy has a physical and psychological impact on the patient. Sexual function problems are a psychological impact that occurs in breast cancer patients after mastectomy. Sexual function is one of the basic human aspects that can influence a person's quality of life. This study aims to determine the description of sexual function in breast cancer patients after mastectomy. This research design uses descriptive methods. The sample in this study consisted of 80 respondents taken using purposive sampling techniques at the Breast Cancer Women's Supporters' Association Community (P2WPKP). Data collection used an instrument in the form of the Female Sexual Function Index questionnaire. The research results showed that 40% of respondents were in early old age (46-55 years), 71.3% of respondents did not work, 85% did not use contraception, and 18.8% of respondents received other surgical procedures. other than mastectomy. Sexual function in post-mastectomy breast cancer patients based on research results showed that 55 (68.8%) respondents experienced sexual dysfunction and 25 (31.3%) did not experience sexual dysfunction. The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents experienced sexual dysfunction and had problems with sexual arrousal, pain and orgasm. Sexual dysfunction is still a minor concern, so providing education or counseling regarding sexual dysfunction is very necessary to improve sexual function in breast cancer patients.
