Abstract

Background: DHF is one of infectious diseases that is a serious concern in the global community. At the critical phase, the NLR will decrease which can worsen the infection and facilitating dengue virus reprodution in mononuclear blood cells. If NLR value is lower, the duration of hospitalization will be longer. This research aims to determine the correlation of NLR and the length of hospitalization of child with DHF at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods: The research was an observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The samples were child with hospitalization from January 1, 2020 to October 30, 2023. The data used was secondary data from Medical Records and Central Laboratory of DHF patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Data were noted such as age, gender, DHF degree, NLR value, onset of fever, neutrophil and lymphocyte values. Results: 67 children fulfilled the criteria. The characteristics that dominated were child age (5-10 years old) (52.2%), female (52.2%), male (47.8%), DHF grade II (46.3%), and child patients with 5 days fever (44.8%). Bivariate analysis shows that there was no significant correlation between the NLR value and length of hospitalization of child with DHF (p=0.068; r=0.224) Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between NLR value and length of hospitalization of child with DHF at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Further research needs to use the cohort method so that it can directly see the factors that affect the length of hospitalization of the child DHF patients Keywords: Dengue Haemoragic Fever, NLR, Hospitalization
