Abstract

Background : Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by the trisomy of chromosome 21. Down syndrome must be diagnosed as early as possible in order for early onset and intervention. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship of factors affecting the age of children diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Method : This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional (cross-sectional) study design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling techniques in accordance with inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. The data taken are primary data in the form of a query and secondary data in the form of a patient's medical record. The sample in this study was a Down Syndrome child at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in Palembang from 2022 to 2023. Results: In this study there were 67 patients with Down Syndrome, with 4 patients (6%) diagnosed with prenatal, 26 patients (38.8%) diagnosed ≤ 6 months, and 37 patients (55.2%) diagnosed > 6 months. In the Chi-Square test results, it was found that home birth (OR=6.136; CI=1.573-23.942), midwife birth helper (OR=3.422; CI=1.234-9.491), antenatal incomplete examination (OR=6.136; CI=1.573-23.942), middle-aged mothers (OR). The disorder is also known as growth disorder (OR=0.246; CI=0.087-0.0697), vascular disorder (OR=0.214; CI=0.075-0.611), and respiratory disorder (OR=0.242; CI=0.067-0.877) may lead to late diagnosis. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between place and birth helper. Antenatal examination, maternal education, parental income, growth disorders, vascular, and respiratory diseases with Down syndrome children. Keywords: Down Syndrome, Childhood, Age Diagnosed
