Abstract

Lightweight concrete is concrete with a lower density compared to normal concrete. The density of lightweight concrete ranges between 1140 – 1840 kg/m3. The production of lightweight concrete can be achieved by incorporating additional materials such as foam agents and partially replacing cement with glass powder. The addition of foam agent to the test specimens makes them lighter, while the partial replacement of cement with glass powder enhances the compressive strength of the concrete due to the reduction in interconnected air voids. The composition used in this study includes 20% and 30% glass powder, a ratio of 1:40 for foam agent and water, and foam-to-cement paste ratios of 0.35:0.65 and 0.30:0.70. Concrete curing is carried out by immersion in water for 28 days. The test results at 28 days reveal an average compressive strength of 5.47 and 5.07 MPa, average density of 1518.3 and 1542.1 kg/m3, and elastic modulus of 12694.2548 and 10188.6326 MPa. This testing is focused on evaluating the physical and mechanical properties of lightweight concrete using a mixture of glass powder with a specific ratio of foam and cement paste volume.
