Abstract

Lightweight concrete is a type of concrete that is being developed and popular in construction industry because it can decrease material costs and reduce structural loads on buildings. Foam concrete is a type of lightweight concrete which has light weight characteristics because it uses a foaming agent mixed with water in suitable ratio. Glass powder can be used as a cement binder because it has the same physical and chemical composition as cement. This study uses a water to cement ratio variation of 0,4; 0,5; and 0,6 by testing a fresh concrete and hardened concrete. Fresh concrete testing consist of setting time test and slump flow test, while hardened concrete testing consist of specific gravity, compressive strength, and modulus of elasticity. Setting time test obtained the initial setting time test result on 0,4 w/c variation which took 201 minutes with the final setting time test result for 420 minutes, for 0,5 w/c variation take 212 minutes for initial setting time test and 438 minutes for final setting time, while w/c 0,6 variation requires an initial and final setting time of 237 minutes and 452 minutes. The slump flow test obtained a workability value for the w/c 0,4 variation of 40,79%, the w/c 0,5 variation of 50,40%, and the w/c 0,6 variation of 67,45%. Specific gravity test at w/c variations of 0,4; 0,5; and 0,6 on the 28th day respectively getting values of 1518,3 kg/m3, 1268,0 kg/m3, and 1197,1 kg/m3. Compressive strength test result at w/c variations of 0,4; 0,5; and 0,6 respectively have a compressive strength value of 5,47 MPa; 3,07 MPa; and 2,38 MPa. This study obtained modulus of elasticity test result of 12694,25 Mpa at w/c variation of 0,4; 8399,70 MPa at w/c variation of 0,5; and 7318,01 MPa at w/c variation of 0,6.
