Abstract
The machining process is done by removing unused parts of workpiece into chips (chips), thus forming the workpiece. Frais is one of the most widely used machining processes for component manufacturing. Working process machine frais is by cutting / eating the workpiece using a multi-cut cutting tool (multipoint cutter). Cutting fluid is a liquid used to cool and lubricate between chisels and workpieces during machining process. Cutting fluid also serves as a gram cleanser and discharger. In addition, cutting fluid also affects the level of surface roughness workpiece. In this study using dromus cutting fluid, coconut oil, and lubricating oil. With the feed rate 0.05 mm, 5 mm depth of cut and 305, 520, and 825 rpm. At cutting using dromus with cutting speed 305 rpm, 520 rpm, 825 rpm, obtained values Ra = 1.34, 1.19, and 0.96. At cutting using lubricating oil with cutting speed 305 rpm, 520 rpm, 825 rpm obtained value Ra= 1.52, 1.45, and 1.33. Cutting using coconut oil with rpm 305, 520, and 825 in can value Ra= 1.40, 1.15, and 1.03. From the results obtained it can be seen cutting by using dromus with cutting speed 825 rpm get the best Ra value is 0.96. This may be due to several factors including: the first viscosity of the dromus is lower than the lubricating oil and coconut oil, which means lower viscosity of the cutting fluid used, the smoother resulting surface roughness. But the viscosity cutting fluid is too low is also not good, because it can accelerate the life of chisels and damage to workpieces. The faster cutting speed is used the more smooth the surface roughness of the workpiece produced.
