Abstract

This research aims to analyze the target area of social criticism in the novel Tanah Para Bandit by Tere Liye, as well as its implications for Indonesian language learning. This research data is in the form of dialogoues and monologues sourced from novels. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The steps in data analysis are identifying data in the target area of social criticism, categorizing the data, interpreting the data, and implementing the area of social criticism in Indonesian language learning. Based on the results of the analysis, there are 87 social criticism data, including 25 social criticisms in the economic, 18 social criticisms in the political, 30 social criticisms in the legal, and 14 social criticisms in the defense and security. The results of this research can be used in learning Indonesian in phase F, namely class XI of the Independent Curriculum High School. The lesson material is analyzing social themes in fictional prose texts.
