Abstract

This study aims to determine the best dose of chicken manure on the growth and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) Bauji variety by floating. This research was conducted in an artificial pond in Tanjung Pering Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra from May to August 2023. The method used in this study was a randomized block design with 1 treatment factor, namely the dose factor of chicken manure, consisting of 4 treatment levels with 3 replications, each replication contained 3 plants, so there were 36 plants. Fifteen parameters were observed, namely leaf length, number of leaves, number of tillers, leaf greenness, chlorophyll content, leaf area, root length, number of bulbs, bulb diameter, bulb length, bulb diameter, bulb length, bulb volume, fresh weight of bulbs, wind-dried weight of bulbs, fresh weight of stems and dry weight of stems. The results showed that the application of chicken manure at a dose of 30 tonnes/ha or equivalent to 120 gs/polybag in a floating manner had significant effect on all parameters except the parameters of number of leaves, number of tillers, number of bulbs, chlorophyll content and dry weight of stems.
