Abstract

The diversity of arthropod species in agricultural ecosystems plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance and supporting plant productivity. This research aims to investigate the diversity of arthropod species in cayenne pepper plants (Capsicum frutescens L.) planted in polyculture with oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in the Research Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The aims of this research is to determine the diversity of arthropod species in cayenne pepper plants planted in polyculture with oil palm at the Research Plantation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and to determine the production of cayenne pepper plants planted in polyculture with oil palm plants. The research method used in this research was the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 5 treatments and 4 replications, in each replication there were 3 plants. The results of this research were that 33 species of phytophagous, entomophagous and pollinator insects were found in cayenne pepper plants. These thirty-three species belong to 8 orders, namely Araneae, Diptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Mantodea and Orthoptera. Insect species found associated with cayenne pepper plants (Capsicum frutescens L.) act as phytophages, entomophages and pollinators. The dominant phytophagous species found in cayenne pepper plants is A.gossypii. Keywords: Entomophages, Pollinators, Polyculture, Phytophagous Insects
