Abstract

This research aims to determine the optimization of the role of libraries in improving students' reading and writing literacy at SD Negeri 05 Indralaya in terms of school library standards. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results show that the role of the library is optimal, and it can be said that the optimal role of the library causes the reading literacy of students at SD Negeri 05 Indralaya to increase. This can be seen from the results of observations and interviews regarding the condition of the library which includes the condition of the building and rooms which are in good condition with the building being separate from the school building, having tables and chairs for students to use for reading and writing and also having air conditioning in the form of a fan. Has a fairly complete collection of books ranging from learning books, story books, both fiction and non-fiction. Having good library management and programs that have been designed by the school to increase the role of the library in improving students' reading and writing literacy, one of which is GLS (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah).
