Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of tuber size and application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from pineapple peel (Ananas comosus L. Merr) on the growth and production of native potatoes plants (Plectranthus rotundifolius (Poir.) Spreng). This research was carried out on land located in Bangun Jaya Village (-3.382410, 104.590438), Tanjung Batu District Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The research was carried out from July to October 2023. The experiment was arranged factorially using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor is the size of the tuber (T) and the second factor is the administration of pineapple peel LOF (P) consisting of 4 treatment levels. There were a total of 8 treatment combinations consisting of 3 groups, and each group consisted of 3 replications, so that the total polybags on the plants used were 72 treatment units. The first factor is the size of the tuber (T), namely: T1 = Tuber measuring 3g - 7 g, T2 = Tuber measuring 11 g - 15 g. The second factor is the administration of Pineapple Peel LOF (P) with various concentrations with 4 treatments, namely: P0 = No treatment, P1 = Concentration of 10% pineapple peel liquid organic fertilizer solution, P2 = 20% concentration of pineapple peel liquid organic fertilizer solution, P3 = Concentration 30% pineapple peel liquid organic fertilizer solution. The results of the research showed that the size of the tubers and the administration of LOF from pineapple peel waste had no significant effect on almost every parameter observed, namely number of leaves, number of branches, fresh weight of the shoot, fresh weight of the roots, dry weight of the shoot, dry weight of the roots, number of tubers, weight of the tubers, and tuber volume. Tuber size and administration of pineapple peel POC at various concentrations in the treatment interaction had a significant effect on plant height parameters. The best treatment was obtained in the treatment with large tubers (11g-15g) and a pineapple peel LOF concentration of 30%.
