Abstract

This research aimed to obtain information regarding the effects of various planting media compositions and pineapple peel POC concentrations on the growth and yield of alabio yam plants (Dioscorea alata L.). This research method used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was the composition of the compost with 3 types, namely T0 = soil (no compost), T1 = 1:1 (soil : compost), and T2 = 2:1 (soil : compost). The second factor was various POC concentrations with 4 types, namely P1 = 1% (10 ml), P2 = 2% (20 ml), P3 = 3% (30 ml) and P4 = 4% (40 ml). The total treatment consisted of 12 treatments consisting of 3 replications and each replication contained 2 plants, so there were 72 plants. The parameters observed consisted of main stem length, main stem diameter, number of leaves, number of branches, tuber weight and tuber volume. The results of the research showed that the treatment of providing various compost compositions and pineapple peel POC on the growth and yield of Alabio sweet potato plants showed results that had no significant effect on the observed parameters, namely main stem diameter, number of leaves, number of branches and tuber volume. In the results of the analysis of the diversity of treatments, the provision of various compost compositions and pineapple peel POC concentrations in the interaction of treatment combinations had a significant effect on the parameters of main stem length and tuber weight. The best treatment is treatment with a compost composition of 1:1 and 4% pineapple skin POC.
