Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of knowing and obtaining the composition of the planting media and POC concentration of banana corm which can increase the optimal growth and yield of alabio yam (Dioscorea alata L.) plants by giving banana corm compost fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer for banana corm. This research method uses a Factorial Randomized Group Design (FRGD) which consists of 2 (two) factors. The first factor is the composition of banana corm compost with 3 levels, namely T0 = control (without compost), T1 = 1:1 (soil : compost), T2 = 2:1 (soil : compost). The second factor is various concentrations of banana corm POC with 4 treatments, namely P1 = 1% (10 ml), P2 = 1.5% (15 ml), P3 = 2% (20 ml), P4 = 2.5% (25 ml ). The total treatment consisted of 12 treatments, 3 replications so there were 72 plants. The variables observed included stem length, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of branches, tuber weight and tuber volume. The results of the research showed that the interaction of the combination of treatments with various compost compositions and banana corm POC concentrations could increase the growth and yield of Alabio yam plants on tuber volume and tuber weight variables with a significant effect. The best treatment was the combination treatment T1P1 (T1 = 1:1 (soil : compost) and P1 = 1% banana corm POC) which produced the highest average values for almost all the variables observed.
