Abstract

This study aims to determine the variety of species and growth patterns of two species of freshwater shrimp in the waters of the Sriwijaya Univrsity’s campus, Indralaya. The study was conducted at July 2023 until January 2024. The study used a descriptive method and sampling using the roaming method. Samples were collected using "bubu" fishing gear and along with the activity an analysis of environmental factors was carried out. Samples of Plaemon carsinus and P. consinus were collected as many as 50 individuals. Type identification and morphometric analysis were carried out at the Biology Education Laboratory, Jalan Ogan Palembang. Type diversity analysis was carried out descriptively and morphometric analysis using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) of 12 morphometric characteristics. The results showed that in both types of shrimp, P. carcinus and P. concinnus showed some significant differences based on their PC1 values. This character shows that the morphometric character of P. concinus always exceeds P. carsinus in 12 morphometric characteristics of total length (PT), cepalotoracic length (PCT), thoracic length (PTR), abdominal length (PA), body height (TB), body width (LB), longer headless length (PTK), antenna length (PAN), periopod length (PPER), pleiopod length (PLEI), uropod length (PU) and telson length (PTL).
