Abstract
Alabio yam (Dioscorea alata L.) is a root type plant and includes vines with a length of 3-10 m. The purpose of this study was to determine and obtain optimal growth results of alabio yam plants by administering various compositions of growing media and liquid organic fertilizers from banana skin waste. This research method use a Factorial Randomize Group Design (FRGD) consisting of 2 (two) factors. The first factor was the composition of banana peel compost with 3 grades namely T0 = control (no compost), T1 = 1:1 (soil: compost), T2 = 2:1 (soil: compost). The second factor was various concentrations of banana skin POC with 4 treatments namely P1 = 1% (10 ml), P2 = 1.5% (15 ml), P3 = 2% (20 ml), P4 = 2.5% (25 ml). The total treatment consists of 12 treatments, 3 replicates so that there are 72 plants. The parameters observed include stem length, number of leaves, stem diameter, number of branches, tuber weight and tuber volume. The results of the study showed that the combination of administration of various compositions of the planting medium and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of banana skin had no pronounced effect on the parameters of stem length, number of leaves, number of branches and diameter of the stem. However, the combination of treatment of various planting media compositions and POC concentrations of banana skin had a marked effect on the parameters of tuber weight and tuber volume. The best treatment was the combination treatment of T1P1 (1:1 potting medium composition (soil: compost) and given 1% POC).
