Abstract

Steel is still the choice as a structural material for earthquake-prone areas, because in addition to having high strength, the elastic properties of steel contribute to better ductility and energy dissipation than concrete. In relation to seismic problems, there are several earthquake-resistant steel structural systems that can be applied to buildings, namely; Moment Resisting Frame (MRF), Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF), The Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) structural system is a system that limits inelastic behavior to only the Link beam between the two eccentric restraints, while the outer beams, columns and Diagonal restraints remain elastic during seismic loads Therefore, the Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) system can fulfill a high level of ductility like Moment Resisting Framerare three possible link beam criteria in the Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) structural system namely; Short Link, Intermediate Link and Long Link These criteria are determined by normalizing the link length with the ratio between plastic moment capacity and plastic shear capacity Meanwhile, links with a length ratio. In performance-based building planning, the performance of buildings against earthquakes and their collapse patterns can be clearly expressed in the form of curves.
