Abstract

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (PT KPC) is one of the largest coal mining companies in Indonesia that applies the open pit method to its coal mining activities. In 2023 with the rising trend of coal prices which continues to increase, the target of production operations in 2023 at PT Kaltim Prima Coal continues to increase, one of the mining departments of PT KPC, namely the bintang department, is trying to maximize the potential of its pit, namely pit Lily where the current actualization of pit Lily has Seam L2, in the geological model below seam L2 itself there is seam L1, from this we will optimize pit Lily down to seam L1. The redesain is carried out using the trial and error method using the application, Geovia Minex 6.4.2 in the form of primary and secondary data as well as with the conditions that have been determined according to the needs of the optimization of the mine pit design itself. Optimization Results for pit Lily are designed with Seam L1 with the highest elevation at RL 280 and lowest point at RL 240, with a road design of +-610m to prime dump from elevation RL280 to RL240 with a maximum grade of 8%. The tonnage of coal in the Lily pit is 85.964 Ton with an average coal calorie value of 6,021 on seams L2 and L1, while the OB volume is 1,234.027 BCM with an SR of 14.4. With the total results obtained from all of pit lily is 165,255 Ton coal with an OB volume of 2,767,727 BCM with a total SR value of 16.75. It is estimated that Lily's pit will be completed in 3 months using a HITACHI EX3600B digger for overburden with dip down mining pattern.
