Abstract
Muara Tiga Besar Utara (MTBU) is one of the longest operating pits at PT Bukit Asam. Most of the pit area is a stockpile area. This is because the overburden material in the MTBU pit uses the backfilling method. So that the MTBU pits experience slope failure caused by infiltration of rainwater into the soil layer on the slopes which will increase the load on the slopes as a result of increased water content in the soil, which in turn triggers landslides. Infiltration on slopes will increase the pore water pressure and reduce the shear strength of the soil. This condition causes slope failure. In this condition the shear strength of the soil is determined by the residual shear strength. High and intense rainfall will cause the soil to become saturated, resulting in a decrease in cohesion, low cohesion will cause the soil to become weak and the unit weight of the soil will increase. rainfall is 2,608.90, then 3,291.80 mm in 2020 and 3,202.90 in 2021. slope stability using the geostudio application program SLOPE/W, SEEP/W produces a safety factor value before rain on a slope of 1,018, a safety factor due to 30 minutes of rain on the slopes is 0.991, the safety factor due to 1 hour 30 minutes of rain on the slopes is 0.987, the safety factor due to 2 hours of rain on the slopes is 0.986. From the analysis of the stability of the embankment slopes using the geostudio application where the higher the rainfall, the lower the FK value produced.
