Abstract

The objective of this study was to measure the spread of fruiting period in duku germ plasma of Southern Sumatera region. The fruiting period information will be used to select duku seedling which have earliest and latest fruiting period. The genotypes will be lined to prolong the availability of duku fruits in market. The study was done in Agronomy Department, Sriwijaya University from September 2013 until April 2014. The study consisted of two activities. The flrst activity was to sample duku fruits from the peddlers in Palembang and its surrounding. Duku fruits samples were measured on there sampling date, fruit girth, peel thick ness, aiyl number, peel color, and aryl color. The second activity was seed of sampled fruits were grown in polybag, one plant per polybag. Each accesion consisted of five plants. Seedlings were measured on seddling hight, stem color, leaf number. The study indicated that the earliest fruiting period was belong to duku from Manna, Bengkulu and the latest fruiting period was belong to duku from SP Padang, OKI. Difference in seedling morphology indicated that the duku accesion sampled in this study were geneticaly difTerent.
