Abstract

The Lahat Regency General Hospital is designed in multilevel with closed windows and uses air conditioner as a regulator of air circulation. Indoor air quality can affect the comfort and health of building occupants. Poor air quality can cause various health problems, one of which is sick building syndrome. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross sectional study design. The population of this study amounted to 165 people with a random sampling method. The research sample amounted to 117 people. Data analysis using fisher exact test. The results of the study were 99 respondents (84.6%) experiencing complaints of sick building syndrome, as many as 19 rooms (76.1%) had an air temperature that did not meet the requirements, as many as 21 rooms (87.5%) had air humidity that did not meet the requirements and as many as 9 rooms (37.5%) have air flow speeds ≥ 0.1 m / sec. Based on bivariate analysis related to complaints of sick building syndrome, the air temperature that does not meet the requirements with p-value = 0,000 and air humidity that does not meet the requirements with p-value = 0,000. Based on the research it can be concluded that complaints of sick building syndrome in employees of Lahat District Hospital amounted to 84.6% with the quality of air temperature that did not meet the requirements of 91.7%, air humidity that did not meet the requirements was 91.4%. It is better to install a humidifier and thermohygrometer in all air conditioner rooms and to do maintenance at least every 3 months.
