Abstract

Discrimination until now is still a problem that often occurs in the social reality of Indonesian society, this is certainly due to the absence of pluralism attitudes upheld by society, films which are a medium of mass communication with the aim of recording and representing what really happens in society. In this study, in an effort to find out how the representation of pluralism contained in the film Bumi Itu Bulat by Robert Ronny, the author conducted a study using a qualitative model that uses John Fiske's semiotic analysis, in achieving the results of the study carried out with John Fiske's television code consisting of 3 levels of analysis, at the level of reality the costume, environment, gesture code is used. At the representation level, the camera technique code is used, transmitted through dialog, lighting, editing, shooting techniques. And finally with the ideology code. The results of the author's research found that the attitude of pluralism in the movie Bumi Itu Bulat occurs directly, such as Muslims who help Christians, as well as Christians who help Muslims. Although different in religion, both can live with mutual respect and help each other if they get into trouble. Keywords : representasion, pluralism, Semiotic, Bumi Itu Bulat Movie
