Abstract

The purposes of this research are 1) to measure orchid farming adoption level to orchid farming material, 2) to calculate production of orchid farming in Sako Kenten Palembang, 3) to analyze jel«(tonship between farmer adoption level to orchid farming material wi(th production of orchid farming in Sako Kenten Palembang. This research was co'nducted in Sako Kenten Palembang. Data collection j was done in March -April 2006. Method used was case study on orchid farmers who I received orchid farming material from field illumination officer. Sample was taken 1 purposively by taking 30 samples out of 35 farmers. i Data collected in this study consisted of primary and secondary data. Data i were processed by scoring method to measure farmer adoption level to orchid farming material and by using Spearman rank test to analyze relationship between farmer adoption level to orchid farming material with production of orchid farming. Result shows =that total score of farm processing was 5,93 which is categorized high, total score of planting was 5,89 (high), total score of cultivation was 10,68 (high), total score of pest and disease controlling was 5,46 (high), total score of harvest was 2,86 (high). Relationship between farmer adoption level to orchid farming material with production of orchid farming, based on Spearman rank test (rs) was 0,858 and t table 0,305, such that the conclusion was to refiise Ho. This means that farmer adoption level to orchid farming material relates to production of orchid farming. The average scale of orchid farming was O^O^hectare consisted of 4 kinds of orchids namely Vanda Douglas, James Storie, Apple Blossom, and Maggie Oie. Mean production of Vanda Douglas was 803 stalks per farmer per year, James Storie was 705 stalks per farmer per year, Apple Blossom was 723 stalks per farmer per was year, and Maggie Oie was 703 stalks per farmer per year. Orchid farmer revenue was Rp 5.468.333,33 per farm.ng scale per year.
