Abstract

Agriculture is the livelihood of the majority of the population in Indonesia. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a food crop that is widely planted by farmers in Indonesia, one of which is rice farmers in Bangsal Village Pampangan subdistrict Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The purposes of this search were (1) To describe the characteristics of rice farmers in Bangsal Village, Pampangan District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (2) Analyzing the amount of household income of rice farmers in Bangsal Village Pampangan District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (3) Analyzing the welfare level of rice farmers in Bangsal Village Pampangan District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (4) Analyzing the relationship between characteristics and the level of welfare of peatland rice farmers in Bangsal Village Pampangan District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was carried out in Bangsal Village, Pampangan District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in June 2023. The research method used was a survey method and a simple random sampling method. The data used is primary data and secondary data. The results of this study were (1) The characteristics of rice farmers in Bangsal Village are on average farmers aged 29-40 years with primary school education who have farming experience of around 3-15 years, they have 2-3 dependents and have a large area of land. farming around 0.25-1.5 ha. (2) The average household income of rice farmers in Bangsal Village is IDR 1,843,043 which comes from rice farming, fishing for rubber workers and the kemplang cracker business. The main income of farmers in Bangsal Village is rice farming. (3) The welfare condition of rice farmers in Bangsal Village is that farmers are not yet prosperous because the income of farmer households is lower than the Standard of Living Needs for farmer families in Bangsal Village by a difference of -60.02%. (4) Farmer characteristics that are related to the level of welfare of rice farmers in Bangsal Village are land area. Because only the characteristics of land area are significant, so the higher the farmer's land, the farmer's welfare increases.
