Abstract

Tin mining activities carried out continuously cause a decrease in soil quality which has a negative impact on various soil properties, one of which is soil physical properties. So it is necessary to analyze the physical properties of soil in the post tin mining land of PT Mitra Stania Kemingking (MSK). This study aims to determine the physical properties of soil on post-mining land of PT Mitra Stania Kemingking (MSK) and compare it with the physical properties of soil on land that has not been mined. This research was conducted from August 2023 to September 2023 in the post-mining land area of PT Mitra Stania Kemingking (MSK) and land that has not been mined. This research was conducted using a very detailed level survey method (USDA, 2018) with a map scale of 1:3,000 with a post-mining land area of 2.8 hectares. Soil samples were taken on post tin mining land with 9 sample points with the name of sample points T1-T9 and on land that has not been mined with 1 sample point with the name of sample point TA, then followed by soil analysis at the Physics, Conservation, Survey and Land Evaluation Laboratory, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The results showed that the dominant soil color is brown (7.5 YR 5/2), the dominant soil structure is ganular, the dominant soil texture is sandy loam texture class, the weight content ranges from 0.97-1.67 g/cmᶟ, total pore space ranges from 37%-63%, soil permeability ranges from 0.01-19.77 cm/h (very slow-fast), field capacity moisture content is 28.60%-43.77%. The results showed differences in soil physical properties on post-mining land compared to land that has not been mined with consecutive values of Total Pore Space of 45% and 63%, Soil Permeability of 1.02 cm/h and 19.77 cm/h, Field Capacity Water Content of 31.05% and 43.77%, and Soil Content Weight of 1.47 g/cmᶟ and 0.97 g/cmᶟ.
