Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul "Perkembangan Masjid Al-Mahmudiyah (Masjid Suro) Palembang Tahun 1965-2005 (Sumbangan Materi Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah Kearifan Lokal Daerah Sumsel)". Adapun permasalahan yang diangkat adalah bagaimana perkembangan Masjid Al- Mahmudiyah (Masjid Suro) Palembang tahun 1965-2005. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menjelaskan Perkembangan Masjid Al-Mahmudiyah (Masjid Suro) Palembang Tahun 1965-2005. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah metode sejarah. Metode ini memuat empat tahapan penelitian yaitu heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi dan pendekatan agama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian Perkembangan Masjid Al-Mahmudiyah (Masjid Suro) Palembang Tahun 1965-2005 dapat diketahui bahwa Masjid Al-Mahmudiyah (Masjid Suro) merupakan masjid yang didirikan oleh Kiai Abdurrahman Delamat pada tahun 1889 di atas tanah waqaf milik Kgs Mahmud Usman dengan tujuan sebagai tempat untuk berdakwah menyebarkan ajaran agama islam. Masjid Al-Mahmudiyah mengalami perkembangan yang cukup pesat dibeberapa aspek salah satu contohnya dalam aspek bangunan yang sudah mengalami renovasi sebanyak tiga kali pada tahun 1965-2005 yang disebabkan oleh meningkatnya jumlah jamaah serta kondisi bangunan yang sudah termakan oleh usia. Masjid Al- Mahmudiyah memiliki beberapa keunikan dalam segi arsitektur yaitu adanya kolam yang berfungsi sebagai tempat berwudhu serta atap masjid yang berbentuk limas.
