Abstract
Addition of CaCO3 in Media With Low pH to Water Quality, Survival and Growth of Patin (Pangasius sp.) (Supervised by DADE JUBAEDAH and ADE DWI SASANTI). Swamp waters have characteristic mainly low pH that is ranging from 2 to 5. One way to increase the pH value of swamp water so that it can be utilized for fish farming is through liming. The purpose of this research is to know the best dose of CaCO3 to increase the pH of swamp water that used for catfish culture media, therefore it can support the survival and growth of fish. The research was conducted at Aquaculture Laboratory, Study Program of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from December 2016 to February 2017. The study was using Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications. The treatments were addition of CaCO3 in culture media of 150 mg.L-1 CaCO3 (P1), 200 mg.L-1 CaCO3 (P2), 250 mg.L-1 CaCO3 (P3), and 300 mg.L-1 CaCO3 (P4). The results showed that the difference of dosage of CaCO3 addition on culture media had an effect on water quality improvement and also catfish growth. The use of CaCO3 lime dose of 300 mg.L-1 can be applied to the culture of catfish in the swamp water resulting 95% survival, the absolute growth 4.93 g for weight and 3.35 cm for length.
