Abstract

The purpose of this was research are 1) to measure the role of KUD Agung Jaya in farming and marketing of oil palm in Tri Mukti Village Bulang Tengah Suku (BTS) Ulu District Musi Rawas, 2) to measure the level of welfare oil of palm smallholders in Tri Mukti Village Bulang Tengah Suku (BTS) Ulu District Musi Rawas, 3) identify the relationship between the role of KUD Agung Jaya with the level of welfare oil of palm smallholders in Tri Mukti Village Bulang Tengah Suku (BTS) Ulu District Musi Rawas. This research was conducted in Tri Mukti Village Bulang Tengah Suku (BTS) Ulu District Musi Rawas. The research location was chose purposively, by the consideration that in this area has KUD. The data on the research collected in May through June 2011. The method in this research was survey method. This study conducted to farmers who are members of the KUD Agung Jaya. This method is used to obtain an overview of the role of KUD Agung Jaya with the level of welfare oil palm smallholders in Tri Mukti Village Bulang Tengah Suku (BTS) Ulu District Musi Rawas. Determination of the farmer groups was taken purposively, from 18 farmers groups that exist in KUD Agung Jaya purposively selected 10 groups of farmers who are active in farming in oil palm as well as at least 30 times a year following the meetings held every Wednesday at KUD Agung Jaya. While the sampling method in this study carried out by simple random method (Disproposioned random sampling), from 10 farmers groups in the KUD Agung Jaya will be selected at random three farmers . So the total of examples of farmers is 30 people. The results of the research showed the role of KUD have an average score 25.60 with the High criteria, while the level of welfere which produced an average score 19.45 with the Medium criteria. Based on the results of statistical tests Sperman rank correlation (enclosure 14) at 5 percent critical tarap a = 0.05 obtained rs calculate 0.759 while the rs table 0.305, so rs calculate > rs tables (a = 0.05). Thus it can be concluded reject Ho, which means there is a relationship between the role of the level of welfare farmers in KUD Agung Jaya. This means the higher role of KUD, the level of welfare oil palm farmers will increase.
