Abstract

The purpose of this study were to (1) assess the role of Agricultural Extension Officer (PPL) with the behavior of women farmers in land use activities in the Village of Salado Yard Sacred Banyuasin district, (2) Measure the behavior of women farmers in the Talang Keramat village Banyuasin , (3) analyze the role of the relationship Agricultural Extension Officer (PPL) with the behavior of women farmers in Talang Keramat village Banyuasin Regency. The research was conducted in the village Talang Keramat village Banyuasin Regency. Data collection was conducted in January 2013. The research method used was a survey method. This method is done in a straightforward manner to the study site and conducted interviews to women farmers as an example of the research object The sampling method is done by census with a population of as many as 25 people from all members of the Women Farmers Group Mekar Sari. The data obtained in the form of primary data and secondary data. Primary data includes roles Agricultural Extension (PPL) PPL guiding a woman how to be better farmers and direct interviews with women farmers sample using questionnaires. While the secondary data obtained from govemment agencies and literature. The results showed PPL role couryard on criteria include high with an average score of 53.04. Where PPL role as facilitator to score 17.84 was the criteria of high, PPL as Mediator getting 17.48 score high on the criteria, and PPL as a score of 19.64 dynamist performed three roles included into the criteria of high PPL. This shows that the PPL role in assisting women farmers who conduct utilization of the yard as a whole has done weli. Behavior of Women Farmers in Sub Talang District Sacred Banyuasin are at high criteria with a total score of 78.56 with (scores range ffom 27.00 to 81.00) or 97.08 percent. It means that women farmers group behavior are assessed through the level of knowledge, attitudes, and skills are good in doing Land Use Yard. The test results by using a statistical test keofisien Spearman rank correlation suggests that there is a relationship between the behavior of PPL role of women farmers in land use garden, with a yield calculated value (rs) of 0.490 and is greater than the table value of 0.401. It shows that there is a relationship between the behavior of PPL role of women farmers in the use of the yard in the village Talang District Sacred Banyuasin
