Abstract
Strategies in conducting Classroom Action Research (CAR) are important for teachers and prospective teachers to consider. The right strategy can help achieve the objectives of CAR effectively and efficiently. This study aims to identify the strategies of prospective biology teacher students in carrying out CAR. The samples of this study were 26 biology teacher candidates who participated in the second wave of pre-service PPG at Sriwijaya University. This study used descriptive methods with a qualitative approach, while the data collection technique used tests distributed through LMS and Google form. Based on data analysis using Nvivo14 software, it was found that the strategy of prospective biology teacher students in carrying out CAR by taking several steps as follows (1) Finding themes, the technique most often used in finding CAR themes is by making observations, (2) Raising backgrounds, previous learning outcomes that were still low became the most widely raised background, (3) The most desired result was improved learning outcomes, (4) Learning methods or strategies used during CAR, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was the dominating learning model. This research is useful as information for undergraduate students, prospective teachers and teachers in determining strategies in implementing CAR.
