Abstract

The global development of globalization has an impact on the advancement of innovation in various fields, including intellectual property rights in the form of copyright for digital Painting illustrations. Despite providing benefits,the widespread use of the internet poses a threat of intellectual property rights violations. Creators face challenges such as manipulation, duplication, and digital painting piracy, making it challenging to distinguish manipulated works from their Original counterparts. This research employs a legal research method with a normative approach supported by empirical data. The study takes place in the cities of Palembang and Jakarta, with the population and sample selected purposively. Primary and secondary data are collected and processed using literature reviews and field studies, analysed through descriptive analytical techniques. The research findings indicate that the protection of economic rights for digital painting creations is crucial to ensure the sustainability of creative innovation in digital art, prevent unhealthy competition, and contribute to the economic well-being of digital painting creators. Additionally, it provides a sense of security and legal certainty. Legal efforts by digital painting creators, when their creations are used without permission, can be pursued through two methods: preventive and corrective measures.
