Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine electrical energy produced by theromelectric generator using biomass of sawn timber which consisted of acasia wood chips, gelam wood chips and rubber wood chips. It was conducted from September to December 2017. This research used Randomized Block Design with two treatment factors and three replications. The first factor was consisted of acasia wood chips (A1), gelam wood chips (A2) and rubber wood chips (A3), whereas the second factor was consisted of fuel weights with magnitude of 50 g (B1), 100 g (B2) and 150 g (B3). The observed parameters were combustion operation time (minute), combustion residual precentage (%), voltage (V), current (mA) and power (W). The results showed that the shortest combustion operation time was found on A2B2 with magnitude of 10.37 minutes, whereas the longest operation time was found on A1B3 with magnitude of 15.33 minutes. The lowest combustion residual precentage was found on A2B2 with magnitude of 16.21%, whereas the highest combustion residual precentage was found on A3B2 with magnitude of 19.48%. The lowest voltage was found on A1B1 with magnitude of 2.20 V, whereas the highest voltage was found on A1B3 with magnitude of 2.60 V. The lowest current was found on A1B1 with magnitude of 1.83 mA, whereas the highest current was found on A1B3 with magnitude of 2.17 mA. The lowest power was found on A1B1 with magnitude of 4.01 Watt, whereas the highest power was found on A1B3 with magnitude of 5.63 Watt. Fuel types had significant effect on combustion residual precentage, voltage and power. Fuel weight had significant effect on combustion operation time, voltage, current and power. Interaction of fuel types and fuelweights had significant effect on all of observed parameters.
