Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the use of ffesh, dry, and mixture of cogongrass as packaging filler media on mortality fry of crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) were transported dry closed system for 24, 36, and 48 hours. This study used a factorial completely randomized design and implemented on January, 2014. Transportation was simulated in the area of Ogan Ilir, Palembang, Banyuasin, and Ogan Komering Ilir. Whereas acclimatization and rearing for 7 days conducted in the Laboratory of Basic Fisheries, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The temperature in the styrofoam packaging during transportation continues to increase, from the initial temperature of 12°C to 28°C in a length of time transportation 24 and 36 hours, and 29°C in a length of time transportation 48 hours. The results showed that there is no interaction between the length of time the transportation (W) and the use of cogongrass as a packaging filler media (A). Lowest mortality after transportation of 0% to 24 hours and significantly different ffom the other. After transportated during 24, 36, and 48 hours, survival rate of crayfish highest as many as 96,23% on treatment using fresh cogongrass.
