Abstract
The most sought and used sprayer by middle to lower class farmers was a carrying type sprayer. Carrying type sprayer performance was less perfect, the working capacity was low because was still manual using, so based on these problems, modifications will be made to an electric pump sprayer. This research aimed for dc pumps to work as a replacement for diaphragm pumps. This research was conducted from May until to July 2018 in the Agricultural Workshop of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research used descriptive method, the data presented in the form of tables. The process of research and design of tools through various stages including data collection, design, tool assembly, data testing and analysis. Parameters observed include testing the power requirements, wide distribution of nozzle, spraying time and tool capacity. The results showed that the dc pump used was more effective than the diaphragm pump in terms of time and stable level of pressure, the power required by the nozzle sprayer was 8.82 Watts, while the average power when the device operates was 23.01 Watts, spray time from full up to 28.2 minutes manual sprayer and electric pump sprayer 14.8 minutes, and effective field capacity on manual sprayer was 0.054 ha / hour and electric pump sprayer was 0.125 ha / hour.
