Abstract
The aims of this research is to determine the effect of vermicompost on some soil physical properties of Inceptisol. The research was carried out at Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. The soil samples was taken from tidal land area of Muara TeJang i n Banyuasin. The physical soil analysis are: Soil moisture content, bulk density, total pore space, soil permeability, soil aggregate stability and soil color. This study using factorial completely randomized design with two factors, it is the materials and the dossage of vermicompost. After applying the treatment of vermicompost, soil samples were incubated for 3 months and watered daily to keep the soil moisture. After incubating, the physical soil properties were anaiyzed. The results showed that the effect of vermicompost on some physical properties of soil Inceptisol highly significant. The dossage of vermicompost highly significant effect on the physical properties of the soil. But the effect of vermicompost materials cach other is not significant to physical properties of soil Inceptisol. The change of soil color is not significant too after applying vermicompost. The highest dossage of vermicompost can increase soil water content of 6.61%, decrase bulk density of 0.38 g /cm3, increase the pore space of a total of 13.76%, increase the permeability of 4.15 cm / hour and increase the stability of soil aggregate of 6.07%.
