Abstract

The purpose of this research is to measure the level of the member actions in farming planting rice IR 64 in swamp areas to calculate the income got by the farmers from farming rice IR 64 in swamp area, to analize the relationship between the level of the members action in farming and their income resulted by the IR 64 rice variety in swamp area of Gandus Palembang. The location of the research is purposive. The method which is used in this research is the case study method. The sampling method used in this research is the census method. The prime data got by a direct interview to the sampling farmer by using lists of questions which are prepared before. The data which are got will be processed by tabulation then the data will be analized statistically by using the spearman correction test and will be presented descriptively. The behavior which are measured consist of 3 components, they are their knowledge, skills and attitude in which those 3 components will be measured from the seedling, land cultivation, planting, fertilizing, grass controlling, plant disease controlling, harvesting and post harvesting. The result of the reseach showed that the behavior can be categorized into high criteria. The rate of income of the farmers using IR 64 variety is Rp 7.126.740 per hectar in 2007 in planting season. Based on spearman correlation test in relation to the income is by rs calculation it is 0,038 but rs table shows that the result is 0,336, so rs calculation is 0,038 < rs table a 0,05 = 0,336, so that the canclusion is accepted. It means that there is no correlation between the members actions and the income of the farmers who use IR 64 rice variety in swamp area.
