Abstract

The objectives of this research are to : (1) Analyze the differences in income ievels of rubber farmers who use the superior seeds and who do not use the superior seeds in Muara Enim Regency. (2) Analyze factors that effect rubber farmer’s to use superior seeds and who do not use the superior seeds in Muara Enim Regency. (3) Describe the type and quality of rubber materials that using superior seeds and that do not use superior seeds. This research was conducted in Muara Enim Regency. Implemention of research and data acquisition in the field conducted during the month of October 2009. Site selection is done on purposive. Research methods used in this research is survey method. The sampling method used in this research is the method of examples of deliberate withdrawal. The first object was answered using the net present value approach, the second object was answered using a logit regression equation approach, and the third object was answered by describing the type and quality of rubber materials that used superior seeds and which do not use superior seeds. The result showed that rubber farmer’s income in Muara Enim Regency that using superior seeds is larger than the incomes of rubber farmers who do not use superior seeds with the net present value of farming for economic age (25 years) who superior seeds Rp 163.110.547 or Rp 6.524.442 for year and who do not superior seeds Rp 59.247.632 or Rp 2.369.905 for year. Based on regresion analysis of logit models, obtained a result that the level of education, income and the amount of labor has a positive influence on the decision of the farmers who use superior seeds and who are not using superior seeds, each with its vaiue of 1,238, 31,627, and 22,817. This expalins that the three factor if have an addition of one one unit will increase the chances of farmers for using superior seeds for each of the regression coefficients value. While the land area and age have shown the opposite direction or the negative of the decision of farmers to use superior seeds and who do not use superior seeds, with each of its value is - 1,473 and -4,676. This also explains that these two factors if have an addition of one unit will reduce the uses use chances of farmers to use superior seeds for each of regression coefficients value. Land of rubber farmers in The Village of Lubuk Tampui that using superior seeds generally is from of a frozen rubber that ffeezing using ffeezer material that is recommended (Acid Ants). Meanwhile, the rubber material that farmers do not use superior seeds generally is from of ffeezer rubber with ffeezer material that is not recommended (Acetic Acid or Vinegar). In terms of processing of latex intorubber slab, decreasing water lavel farmers who do not use superior seeds have a ranges between 0 - 10%. Meanwhile, water levels at the farmers that using of superior seeds have a ranges ffom 10 - 20%. The type ang quality of rubber materials that used superior seeds is better than the type and quality of rubber material that does not use superiior seeds.
