Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the efectivity ot the glyphosate combined with metyl metsuifuron and to know the exact mixture dosage in controling growth of weeds on oil palm plantation. The research was conducted from Agust until November 2004 at PT. Melania Indonesia, Divisi of Alicia III, Banyu Asin Regency, South Sumatera. Randomized block design was applied with two factors. The first factors was three different dosages of glyphosate such as; 480 g a. i of gliphosate ha'1 (G 1), 720 g a.i of gliphosate ha'1 (G2), 960 g a.i of gliphosate ha'1 (G3) . The second factor was metyl metsuifuron, consist of four different dosages they were; without metyl metsuifuron (Mo), 10 g a.i of metyl metsuifuron ha'1 (Mi), 15 g a.i of metyl metsuifuron ha'1 (M2), and 20 g a.i of metyl metsuifuron ha'1 (M3). The result of research showed that the combined of glyphosate and metyl metsuifuron could increase the herbicide efectivity in controlling of weed on oil palm. The combined of glyphosate (480 g a.i ha"1) and metyl metsuifuron (10 g a.i ha f) depressed dry weight of Clidemia hirta and Nephrolepis biserrata. Glyphosate application (960 g a.i ha'1) gave the lowest dry weight of Ottochloci nodosa, application metyl metsuifuron (10 g a.i ha'1) depressed dry weight of Clidemia hirta and Nephrolepis biserrata. The dominant weed on research location before application of herbicide was Ottochloa nodosa, Clidemia hirta and Nephrolepis biserratci with S DR respectively 45,24%, 15,84% and 10,95%.
