Abstract

PT. Bukit Asam, Tbk is one of the mining companies engaged in coal. Location of PT. Bukit Asam, Tbk is located in Tanjung Enim and has a stockpile area, one of which is at Kertapati Pier, Palembang City. The coal contained in the stockpile is the coal transported from Tanjung Enim before being sent to buyers via barges. Placement of coal in the stockpile continues to occur causing the coal that has been carried out the first stock will be buried. This made the trigger for spontaneous combustion. The effect of spontaneous combustion that can be analyzed is based on the moisture content, the content of the fly substance, the increase i n temperature due to the length of the hoarding carried out, the wind speed that occurs will cause the coal to heat up to accelerate the coal heating reaction. Coal that is observed is at the point of Sea Levels (TL) 4, TL 5, TL 6 and Landfill (TD) 4, TD 5, TD 6. Each type of coal contained at the observation point has different types so that the influence of temperature, speed wind, total moisture, and volatile matter are also different. TL 4, TD 4 and TD 6 have similar characteristics, namely market brand BB 52, TL 5 and TD 5 have similar characteristics namely market brand BA 50 while TL 6 has a BA 48 brand market. After observing the swabakar event then evaluating to prevent the occurrence of spontaneous combustion. Several factors that can be done are paying attention to the temperature of the stockpile, the moisture content, the level of the fly substance and the dimensions of the stockpile.
